Training For Musicians
Developing professional musicians’ confidence and skills when working with people with dementia
We offer training for professional musicians wishing to provide music for people with dementia in residential and community settings. The training is led by our music therapists.
By beginning to understand what it might be like to live with dementia, players learn to adapt their performance to meet different individuals’ needs.
Training sessions are interactive and tend to focus on areas including dementia awareness, adopting a therapeutic approach, repertoire choices, and what to expect in a care home environment. Contact Ruth if you would like to find out more: ruth.melhuish@mindsong.org.uk
I can’t thank you both enough for the most extraordinary day on Friday. I had imagined it being extremely useful, informative and ‘just what we all needed’…I hadn’t anticipated the knock-out emotional effect that went with it. Absolutely mind-blowing.
