Sing 2 Remember
Our Sing 2 Remember groups are supported, dementia friendly singing sessions,
delivered in community venues across Gloucestershire as well as online.
Sing 2 Remember
These uplifting sessions are about singing together, sharing memories, making friendships, and accessing support if needed.
Sing 2 Remember is for:
- People with dementia still living at home and those that care for them
- People experiencing loneliness or isolation
- People who love to sing
What are the benefits?
The bond of singing together is not only enjoyable, but it can also help our minds and bodies in so many ways. It makes us feel part of something, it can help us to remember without anxiety, it can reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation, and it’s good for our health, helping to improve posture and breathing.
What happens in a session?
The sessions, usually around 1.5 hours long, consist of:
- Some gentle stretches, breathing exercises and warm-ups
- Singing familiar songs and songs that we all love, in a circle together
- Sharing our favourite song requests, stories and special memories
- The opportunity to chat to a community support worker during the session if anyone needs to talk
- Joining together at the end for tea/coffee, cake and chatting
When and where?
We have 12 in-person groups that run in different locations across Gloucestershire, and one group that runs online. Sessions are free but we do ask for a donation to help keep the sessions going. Please be aware that sometimes a session is cancelled due to illness so check with the group leader is you are new to a group. We also close for 2 weeks over Christmas.
