Voices of Aphasia Online

A weekly online choir for people living with aphasia and their families and carers

Voices of Aphasia Online is a singing group for people with aphasia and their family members. We also welcome people who have experienced a stroke. It is led by Music Therapists, Becky and Sharon, supported and funded by Reconnect.

The aim of the choir is to support wellbeing. We meet every Monday morning on Zoom from 10.30am to 11.30am. Our singing sessions offer opportunities to sing, regardless of ability, and to talk with others who are going through similar experiences.

Aphasia is a communication disorder resulting from a stroke, head injury, brain tumour or other neurological illness. It can cause difficulties with speech, understanding, reading, writing and using numbers; however the ability to sing is often retained. This choir provides a supportive social network which encourages participation, improves wellbeing and reduces isolation for people with aphasia and their carer/family member.

Certainly your choir is a wonderful thing – I am always so pleased to be able to refer people.
